Postojna Cave

Postojna Cave is the most visited tourist attraction in Slovenia. Its entrance is located about 1 km from Postojna town center. The cave was known to exists for centuries, but the inner part of the caves was only discovered in 1818 by a local from Postojna. Up to now, over 26 million people visited the cave.
Together with nearby caves the underground system is about 21 km long and up to 115 m deep, so only parts (5.3 km) can actually be visited. Postojnska cave was formed by the river Pivka in hundreds of thousands of years.
